Mod is what I affectionately call a well-thought excuse for having an edgy character with the habit of escaping death an nth amount of times. He's small-built and with generally criminal tendencies due to his upbringing and whole development as a person.

His power is attuned to the use of carbon armor and embers, plus he's got an exceptional resistance and self-healing abilities. He never wears his full armor except for training sessions in his youth, nor is able to use flames.

Introduction

Name: Modya "Mod" Hicks

Species: Human (Pyromancer)

Gender: Male (He/Him)

Height: 151 cm/4'11" (normal); around 200 cm/6'7" (ACT 2 and crunchy)

Body Type: Small but masculine, with a generally lithe physique. Goes from lean and muscular to sickly thin to lean and slightly aging, over the years.

Age: in his 40s (Current); 23-26 (Cyprus)

Personality: Erratic, sly, ranges from calm and collected to absolutely INTO whatever he's doing. PRONE TO MONOLOGUING.

BRIEF SUMMARY

Mod - ACT 1:

Softspoken, mostly unfazed and at slyly calm, Mod rarely shows intense emotions apart from some rare occasions. He mostly looks almost melancholic or tired, a look aided by his deep-set eyes.

Besides the tired look he's quite witty, quick to answer and defend himself if there's the need. He also tends to weaponize his looks if everything else fails, or to strategically take out targets.

He's got a hidden interest in old technology, vintage consoles and especially instant cameras, given also the fact that his turbulent life left him with frequent memory issues when social life is involved. He keeps photo albums that span from his teens to present times and he's extremely jealous of them.

Mod - ACT 2 (Also affectionately known as crunchy Mod):

Absolutely power-drunk after the events that brought him at the head of the power plant. He still can fake calm and charm and most of the time he's pretty good at it when things go his way. Otherwise he's quite foul-mouthed and sometimes behaves as very much is owed to him.

With time he grows increasingly sickly as staying is armor 24/7 is a constant strain on his body. He can hide most of it most of the time, but pretty early an inflamed nerve back from the fight with Vitali slowly causes half of his face to become temporarily paralyzed.

Understimulated from his almost permanent stay inside the Arena's quarters and thus extremely experimental in his interests, his main occupation is trading favours to people in need in exchange of some entertainment.

He firmly believes he's in the right by doing so, as the previous role of the Power Plant was basically the same - helping the local pyromancer community and keeping an eye on them - but now with his own twist.

Mod - ACT 3:

After the fall of the arena, Mod feels like he's got nothing left to lose. He still tries to play up the façade of the big bad boss, but without the power of his armor to sustain him hardly anyone believes him.

Once he gets found and slowly eases in to the idea of support from others he starts to drop it, and together with finally being genuinely more sincere he starts to acknowledge the weight of all his past choices.

He's still very defensive of his vulnerabilities, and it'll keep being like that for a long time.

Design Notes

  • Mod's features are influenced by Eastern-European descent.
  • He has pitch black hair which refuses to go gray for now, a generally round face (not as long as his armor look might make someone think) with a pointy, not too developed jaw.
  • Tall forehead, masculine hairline, thick brows with a downwards cut and scar on the left one.
  • Big eyes with noticeable dark circles, pink irises, (mostly) green glowy pupils (tapetum lucidum look) though their color can be slightly altered if the palette requires it.
  • Curved, pointy nose with a narrow bridge and a slightly upwards underside.
  • Thick lips, ALWAYS wrinkles at the angles of the mouth (additional wrinkles when he ages), straight teeth (they are fake), black gums to hold everything in place.
  • By the way, since most of the bony parts of the mouth (gums, palate, etc) are carbon and technically changeable at will, this can lead to interesting scenarios.
  • The right side of his face is more noticeably scarred than the right, the main ones being on his temple and on his jaw.
  • In his 20s he rocked chin-length, wavy hair and an idiot goatee. He can still grow facial hair, but shaves it by burning it off.
  • Still in his 20, during his stay in Cypria, he also got a full back tattoo, designed by Ezra
  • He generally has a small frame, pale skin with many faded scars, noticeable in strong light. Quite hairy body. If there's not enough hair in the art I made it's because I couldn't draw it, he still has it
  • He had a decent amount of muscle, especially in the legs, before his exile. In theory he's able to build it back once he gets better (we do be loving some recovery)
  • Narrow wrists, neck and ankles but his hands are feet are on the big side for his height. He has black (carbon) nails on both hands and feet, usable as weapons since their length can be altered at will.
  • When he's in armor his body is packed pretty tight into it, almost squeezed in, accentuating the design's shapes. Realistic anatomy banned. Awooga
  • Mod's got your typical FTM anatomy, kindly offered by Vitality corp. in his early years. This is never questioned in the story.
